About a year ago, we made the mistake of visiting a big box home improvement store to purchase deck stain…
The deck was looking a bit weather worn and the wise thing seemed like staining it. In an attempt to consolidate errands, both the stain and flowers were bought from the same store. Unfortunately buying a ‘natural cedar’ stain turned into a pink tinged, paint based nightmare.

Untreated wood made the new stain look terrible
It only took 60 grit sandpaper, 12 hours, 2 hand sanders and 2 very determined individuals to remedy the mistake.

Lesson: don’t mess with cedar
However, if you are going to treat cedar, go to a specialist like Hirshfields. The extra money is worth your time!
